# Data Explorer

> Query a workflow's data with SQL or a plain-English question

Data Explorer lets you query the data of a workflow from the dashboard. Use it to spot-check results, count distinct values, find duplicates or empty fields, and filter rows before you export.

Open a workflow and click **Explore** above the data table.

## Ask

Type a question and click **Run** (or press Cmd+Enter). Kadoa writes a query from your question, runs it, and shows the result in the data grid. While the box is empty, it cycles through example questions built from the workflow's columns.

Examples:

* count of rows per brand, largest first
* rows where price is empty
* average price per category, highest first
* rows per day, newest first

Click **SQL** to see and edit the query that ran.

If a question cannot be answered from the columns in the workflow, Kadoa says so instead of guessing.

## SQL

Click **SQL**, write a query, and click **Run** or press Cmd+Enter. All rows are in one table called `data`. Column names, the table name and keywords autocomplete as you type; press Tab to accept.

Data Explorer uses [DuckDB SQL](https://duckdb.org/docs/sql/introduction). A few useful queries:

```sql theme={null}
-- Total rows and distinct keys
SELECT COUNT(*) AS rows, COUNT(DISTINCT url) AS distinct_urls FROM data;
-- Duplicate keys
SELECT url, COUNT(*) AS n FROM data GROUP BY 1 HAVING COUNT(*) > 1;
-- Rows with an empty value
SELECT * FROM data WHERE title IS NULL OR title = '';
-- Rows per day
SELECT CAST(posted_date AS DATE) AS day, COUNT(*) FROM data GROUP BY 1 ORDER BY 1 DESC;
-- Column statistics (min, max, null %, distinct count)
SUMMARIZE data;
```

## Results

Results replace the data grid. The banner shows the result count and the number of rows in the run. Click **Back to all data** to return, or the download button to save every row of the result as CSV.

## Limits

* Queries run on the latest published run. Select a run in **History** to query that run instead.
* Queries are read-only. One `SELECT` per run; `WITH` clauses are fine.
* Up to 1,000 rows are shown. Add a filter or aggregate to narrow larger results.
* Queries run in your browser. The run's data is downloaded once per session; very large runs take longer to load.
* Ask sends the schema and five sample rows to the model, never the full dataset.
* Chrome and Edge are supported.
